Raw Brownie Bliss Balls (Nut-free, Dried Fruit-free!)

Has it escaped anyone's notice that bliss balls invariably are a concoction of mushed together nuts/ seeds and dried fruit? And, especially in commercially prepared versions, they veer heavily towards the dried fruit camp - which means in essence it's simply a ball of sugar, albeit 'unrefined'.

Raw Brownie Bliss Balls

These little babies are not your average bliss ball. They are based on my Raw Lemon and Poppy Seed Cake Balls - except not a single naughty nut or pesky little piece of dried fruit were harmed in the making of these. As a result, the texture is less sticky and dense but actually more 'cake-like' - without the effort of even turning on the oven!

I've sneaked in some moringa leaf powder for a boost of protein and antioxidant goodness but this is optional.

Raw Brownie Bliss Balls (Nut-free, Dried Fruit-free!)
Grain-free, Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Refined Sugar-free, Nut-free
Makes approx 15 balls

1/2 cup + 1tbsp (80g) coconut flour
1/2 cup (60g) cacao (or cocoa) powder
1 tbsp lucuma powder
1 tbsp moringa leaf powder (optional)
pinch pink salt (I use this Himalayan pink salt - use code IMPAL10 for 10% discount)
1/4 cup coconut cream (solid part from top of a can of coconut milk)
1//2 cup coconut milk
1 1/2 ripe bananas (175g peeled)
1 tsp vanilla extract

optional: hulled hemp seeds for rolling

1. Sift coconut flour and cacao into a mixing bowl. Combine with lucuma and moringa then set aside.
2. In a blender or processor, combine coconut milk, coconut cream, vanilla, salt and banana.
3. Pour wet mix into dry bowl and combine well. The flour will absorb the moisture like a sponge, to form a thick dough.
4. Allow to sit for a few minutes to fully absorb. If too dry add a dash more milk.
5. Roll into approx tablespoon sized balls (or as preferred) and roll in hemp seeds if desired. Refrigerate for an hour or so to firm up slightly. Or pop in freezer for 30mins. Store in fridge in sealed container or freeze and defrost for a few minutes at room temperature before eating.
